Hi, I'm Victoria

I'm a UX/UI Designer originally from the US, now currently based in London. My design philosophy is that design is problem-solving that is research-backed and evaluated with actual users.

Education

I'm currently completing a User Experience Design Master of Science (MSc) at Kingston University in London, UK with an expected completion of September 2024.

I completed my Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) in the US at The University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee.

Experience

Post-graduation, I spent a few years in the library and logistics fields before moving into IT at the Memphis headquarters of Hilton Hotels and Resorts. There I spent 2 years in the Software Engineering PMO (Project Management Office), followed by a move to agile transformation of a legacy system. In the course of this time, I completed Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) training and led the team to through the transition away from waterfall to Scrum.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was laid off as a result of the effects to the hospitality industry. I used the time to complete short term contract work at ServiceMaster and Sedgwick, where I gained experience working in a Scaled Agile (SAFe) environment.

I returned to Hilton after their post-pandemic recovery, this time in their Enterprise Architecture & Data organisation where I coordinated remediation of departmental cybersecurity risks.

In 2023, the draw I felt to pursue UX as career inspired me to return to school to pursue the challenge of taking on projects and gaining experience within a, limited timetabled period. I opted for full-time enrollment as I want to focus without competing priorities.

Hobbies

I have a great affinity for languages, though I don't profess to be very skilled in any language. I'm actively studying Hungarian and have studied Japanese and Spanish in the past. I like that languages open the door to talking to people and discovering culture I never would otherwise have exposure to.

I also am involved in various "nerdy" interests such as board and video games, cosplay (costume roleplaying) and crafting, and reading fantasy and science fiction.

I'm always down to chat UX design or anything else! Drop me a line via email or connect with me on LinkedIn.👋
